1. Claims can only be accepted from registered schools in the UK, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Claims cannot be accepted from the Republic of Ireland. We cannot accept claims from individuals or other organisations. Instructions printed in paper, online or on the Books for Schools order forms form part of these terms and conditions.
2. Schools will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions by taking part in the promotion.
3. Participating schools must nominate a member of staff who will administer the scheme in accordance with these terms and conditions.
4. Free Books for Schools tokens will be published in The Times and The Sunday Times during specified periods from January, 2009 to December, 2009.
5. Book orders will only be accepted during specified periods as indicated in each book catalogue. Orders from the summer catalogue must be received by July 30, 2009.
6. Only original complete printed tokens from legitimately purchased copies of The Times and The Sunday Times or specially printed bonus tokens will be accepted. Times Newspapers Ltd (“TNL”) may disqualify any claim that it reasonably believes includes tokens that are defaced or obtained directly from an employee or agent of TNL, or are otherwise fraudulent or contrary to the spirit of the promotion.
7. TNL will not accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged tokens. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery.
8. There is no limit to the number of books a school can order, other than in compliance with these terms and conditions.
9. TNL will not be liable for any damage, claim or costs, however incurred, arising from this promotion, or from failure of schools to comply with the terms and conditions.
10. The number of Books for Schools tokens required for any book in this promotion is non-negotiable. Notwithstanding, TNL may make special offers and discounts at its discretion.
11. Once a book order is made it cannot be changed or amended.
12. Orders must be accompanied by a properly completed Books for Schools order form. Additional order forms can be downloaded from the Books for Schools website at www.freebooksforschools.co.uk. The list of books available in this promotion will be published in official Books for Schools catalogues which will be mailed to registered schools at the start of each stage of the promotion. The current book list will also be available to view at www.freebooksforschools.co.uk. The book lists form part of the terms and conditions for this promotion.
13. Free books will be delivered to schools within 28 days of the receipt of an official order form, subject to availability. Where the 28th day falls within school holidays, books will be delivered within two weeks of the start of the following term. TNL and Scholastic Book Clubs reserve the right, at their discretion, to substitute an alternative or similar product of a comparable value and equivalent to the book or resource claimed.
14. No image or descriptive matter issued by the publisher of the books, nor the description and illustrations of the books as featured in any promotional material, form part of the claim contract nor can be regarded as a warranty or representation relating to the books.
15. The books and resources on offer are supplied for use in schools and are not for export resale, barter or any other commercial use.
16. Force majeure: the promoters will not be liable for failure or delay in delivery or performance of their obligations under these terms and conditions in the event of any unforeseen cause beyond their reasonable control.
17. Where there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of the rules, TNL may refuse to process the order. TNL will be final arbiters in any decisions and these will be final and binding.
18. No cash payment will be accepted in exchange or part exchange for any book offered in this scheme.
19. Books for Schools tokens may be transferred between schools, but payments between schools, or any third party, is prohibited.
20. In the event of circumstances beyond their control, the promoters reserve the right to vary the conditions of the scheme at any time.
21. No claims for books damaged in transit or shortages will be considered unless the promoter is notified within 3 working days of delivery. In the absence of such notification the school will be deemed to have accepted the books, subject to the conditions above.
22. These terms and conditions and any claim placed hereunder shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law, subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
